News & Notes from the Churches

STAFF CHANGES

         Derrick Rickman has resigned as pastor at Hilltop Country Church. Ken Schoenfeldt is the new pastor.

         David Guion has been called to The Country Church in Marion as Worship Minister.

         Oakwood Country Church in LaVernia has called John Bell (wife Sherrie) as their new pastor.

         Timoteo Gutierrez has been called as the new pastor at Primeria Iglesia Bautista, Kyle.

         We welcome all of these to their new positions of ministry in the association.

        Oakwood Baptist Church officially broke ground for its new Preschool/Children's Building on Wednesday, April 18. The event took place on the grounds where the new 50,000 sq. ft. building will soon be built. Pastor Ray Still led in the ground breaking, along with representatives from Malitz construction, RVK Architecture, and members of Oakwood Building Committee. the Oakwood Children's Choir also participated in the ceremony. The celebration concluded with a beautiful balloon release to commemorate an exciting evening. The new building is due for completion in the Spring of 2013.

        A recent report from Revolution Church, a church plant in Schertz, shows 34 people placing their faith in Jesus through that plant since Jan. 1, 2012.  There are an average of 137 children being impacted by their Children’s Ministry, they’ve had 222 first time guests visiting during the first three months of the year, and they’ve given $5,460 to church planting and over $27,000 to missions.

         FBC, Canyon Lake, had a display at the Earth Day Celebration at Tye Preston Memorial Library, Canyon Lake, showing a Biblical view of stewardship of the earth and care of God’s creation.

         An 8 a.m. service has been added at FBC, Canyon Lake, due to increased attendance.

         Westside BC, Seguin, will be doing VBS in Mexico the first week in July. They are in need of a van to travel in and are looking for a church that might lend, rent or sell them one at a reasonable price. Also, if anyone is interested in joining them on the mission trip they are welcome. In addition to the VBS, construction workers are needed.

        Breaking Ground for a nearly 11,000 sq. ft. worship and education center for The Fellowship at Plum Creek are (l to r) John Partain, worship pastor, Jonathan Leftwich, senior pastor, Keri Summers, children's minister, Melba Nuhn, administration, and Chris Smith, associate/youth pastor. The ground-breaking celebration which included food, games, and music, was held April 22 on the property located on Grace Street in Plum Creek. At the celebration, founding pastor, Marty Mosher, shared about the beginning of the church 10 years ago. A representative of the Chamber of Commerce spoke about the growth of Kyle in the past several years. Pastor Jonathan Leftwich shared from Proverbs 24.3-4.

         Hill Country Church at Fair Oaks Ranch is hosting its 4th Annual Sports Camp June 1-13.  During the event all kids will be challenged in fun and engaging Bible lessons on fear, faith, trust and sharing Jesus; dynamic songs about God’s truths; face lots of sports related activities and challenges including basketball, volleyball, softball and more; and be challenged to know Jesus better and live a life after His example.

         Uncommon Church is BBA's latest church plant.  The new work is located in the Round Rock/Cedar Park area north of Austin.  The pastor is Michael Robison.  Michael is developing his launch team now in preparation for a fall launch.  BBA partner churches so far are River Valley Christian Fellowship in Bastrop and Revolution Church in Selma.  If you are interesting in partnering with Pastor Michael and Uncommon Church, contact Robby for more information.

         John and Laurie Minton are awaiting approval for appointment with the International Mission Board. If approved they will leave Oct. 15 for training and will be assigned to Madagascar. John is currently pastor at CrossRoad Christian Fellowship in Lockhart.

         FBC, New Braunfels is now accepting resumes for the position of Maintenance Supervisor. Full time, exempt position. Vacation, sick leave, holidays, and workers compensation insurance.
